New new you love me Tuesdays.

Though I have yet to go to Uchi, I'm very excited to hear that Tyson Cole will be opening a Spanish and Japanese fusion restaurant in the emerging W hotel. He will also open a "a New York City-style bakery that changes emphasis through the day from breakfast in the morning to dessert at night and a third, independent eatery such as a seafood establishment or a steakhouse" in the hotel. After seeing Anthony Bourdain creaming himself as he plowed with climaxing moans and compressed eyes through Spanish cuisine on No Reservations, I'm interested to see what all this Spanish culinary obsession is about.

What an outpouring of new stuff of late. The owners of Beerland and Rio Rita have graced us with a low-key Eastside beer joint called The Good Knight. Also a new espresso joint opened on east Seventh called Sips on Seventh.

Apparently the owners of Third Base sports bar are opening Aces, a knock off of the trendy burlesque clubs in L.A. Michael Barnes writes "We now hear it will also feature a full-time burlesque troupe, jazz nights on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as creative dance + rock ‘n’ roll shows on Thursdays."

Sometimes on Friday or Saturday nights, I like to sit at home and watch IFC in Theaters from my TV with my beloved Boobies (my dog). A couple of weeks ago I watched In Search of a Midnight Kiss. Fully expecting it to be a lovelorn hipster film (which it is) I was shockingly enchanted with the story and the writing (when one character asks another if she was expecting to have sex with him, he blatantly asks her if she trimmed her pubes in a surprisingly precious exchange). I highly recommend checking out director Alex Holdridge appearance at the screening of the film this Thursday at Alamo South. I Luv Video and other Austin scenery makes a brief cameo.

The writers of Misprint magazine have announced the Grown Up issue scheduled for release sometime in September. Despite possible looming death, I will definately hold my breath for this one.

Sandra Bullock made an appearance at Blackwell-Thurman Criminal Justice Center for jury duty. She wasn't chosen but I'm sure she was upset at losing the $40 a day payment, which is probably more than her movies make in the entire state.

As a side note, there is a blog out there dedicated to all things Mad Men, with in-depth, nerd-induced analysis for people who can't stop rolling the show over in their minds.
